Recommendations on how to extend the service life of a decking board

Terrace board made of wood-polymer composite (DPK) is gaining more and more popularity due to its durability and aesthetic appearance. However, in order to maximize the service life of the terrace made of wood and preserve its original appearance, it is important to observe some rules of operation and care. In this article, we will consider in detail what must be done and what is categorically prohibited when using terrace boards of the DPK.

Basic care recommendations:

1. Regular cleaning. The terrace must be regularly cleaned of mud, dust and organic residues, such as leaves and branches. Use a soft brush and water, possibly with the addition of mild detergents intended for DPK boards.
2. Avoid aggressive chemicals. Do not use chlorine-containing or abrasive cleaning agents, which can damage the surface of the board.
3. Humidity control. Although DPK boards are resistant to moisture, they should avoid constant contact with water. Make sure that the drainage system on your terrace is working effectively.
4. Protection from solar radiation. If possible, use awnings or umbrellas to minimize exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause discoloration and deformation of the boards.
5. Precautions for use. Avoid using sharp objects and heavy furniture on legs that can leave scratches or dents on the surface of the boards.

What is categorically prohibited:

1. Use of metal scrapers and hard brushes. They can seriously damage the surface of the boards, leaving scratches and other defects.
2. Use of high pressure. High pressure washers can be too aggressive for DPC boards, contributing to their destruction.
3. Laying of carpets and rubber mats. Prolonged contact with rubber or other materials can lead to stains and discoloration of boards.
4. Covering with oil or acid agents. Use of unsuitable protective and decorative coatings can lead to chemical decomposition of the material.
5. Leaving stagnant water. Do not allow water to stagnate on the terrace, as this can provoke the growth of mold and fungus.
